The API opens a lot of interesting possibilities for third-party software and hardware makers. Does ambify work with spotify software#.I'm waiting for Homekit to be opened up to devs or the Echo to come out in the uk, though the Google Home might beat them to it. well, the opposite of romantic or beach ambient :) Though I am curious to see what your changing 10 times a second actually looks like, it sounds very. There are lots of repos on Github as well that do audio visualization stuff and its worth a look. Re the animation if you are on Mac then Ambify is very impressive at generating lightshows to music (when it works). If you want background music, there are loads of streams on, then you can provide a mp3 stream for each mood. They are surprisingly good for what they are, you get a nice amount of bass and volume. Occasionally for a bit of music or a podcast. I use the EasyAcc Mini Portable Rechargeable Bluetooth Speaker plugged into my Pi for announcements and things. You can probably get some ok sounding USB powered speakers. I didn't get with it and took the plunge to get the RFXcom which can control loads of 433mhz devices (as I was hoping the Energenie could do with a little hacking) Once I have everything, I will create a document and upload it with source code. Thanks for that.Īny suggestion for my project is welcome. I'm going to check your links because I have to decide about what media player to use and what speakers. I still have to buy speakers, but note it is only for background or ambient sound, I don't need something very expensive, but with a decent quality of sound. (Because I will not use it all the day and I don't want to spend electricity) Regarding the speakers, I bought it to activate or deactivate the background speakers It is not nice to say "Siri, activate romantic ambient" and then listen to an ad rather than music (I don't want the premium account) I also have spotify connected and I control it using the homebridge-applescript-file plugin. The animations are more complex that a colorloop. I could attach them to philips switches. No need to have an app in foreground or background. I can use Siri to start my custom scene (animation with ambient music). The reason to delegate the animation in a plugin (that is executed in a raspberry pi) rather than an existing app is that: I created a plugin that when activated, it sends about 10 network requests per second (using node-hue-api) to modify lights values. Thanks for reply already have a proof of concept working. Logitech don't make or support it anymore, but the opensource community is still very active. But when you get it sorted, it is kinda cool. But be warned, it is a whole new can of worms to have to try and work out. Have a look at Logitech Media Server and SqueezePlay, as these run on the Pi and also connected to Spotify. So for the music thing I guess you would use AppleScript (there is a homebridge plugin for that) or another other means to tell your Mac to do something. In the app you give the scene a name ,then tell it what you want on and off etc. If you have the Hue working with the Hue Homebridge plugin or even the Philips one, then you use Homekit via an app (Eve) to setup the scene. You don't need to write your own plugin to do what you are trying to so. Unless all you want to do is a colorloop, because that is built into the Hue Bridge. I would avoid the animation side of things, there are various apps that do a much better job of it.
